Video: 14.00 minutes
In this video, I attempt a full 14 minutes to play skipping rope with a flag garland. The rope is much too light and long and I fail over and over again. I’m sweating and out of breath, but I keep going. The few times I actually succeed give me enough satisfaction to keep going.
This video is about the contrast of the associative lightness of the garland and the struggle that goes with the act of skipping. The rope jumping, which is a childlike and lively game, becomes a battle here. The cheerful flags get a raw edge and at the same time the video has a dry-comical look. I hang up the garlands for a lonely party, until I have to give up from fatigue.
